The annual clean-up weekend will be held on 21st-22nd March. All members are invited to come down to the club armed with gardening and cleaning equipment from 10am onwards.

Salts Sports Association and Titus Salt School have organised two exciting aerobics classes to help you shed those pounds and get you fit for spring. On Wednesdays from 6 to 7pm Suzanne Ives will take you through an entertaining aerobics session in the new Titus Salts School dance hall to get your pulse raising. 7 to 8pm is the class for the fanatic aerobic group.

Salts Tennis Clubs allocation of Wimbledon tickets will be based on the number of our club members that have signed up to British Tennis Membership by the 30th November 2008. If you don’t sign up our allocation could be reduced! In addition, you can only receive club allocated Wimbledon tickets in 2009 if you have signed up as a member of British Tennis. If you haven’t done so already sign up here now and pass this message on!

Salts Tennis Club have been successful in securing a grant from the Shipley Area Committee to provide junior tennis activities throughout the summer holidays for children aged 5 to 15 including free junior tennis tournaments and tennis summer camps in August and September. A U13, U15, and U17 girls and boys junior tennis tournament will be held at Northcliffe Park on Sunday 17th August, followed by two 4 day summer tennis camps from the 18th to 21st August and 16th to 19th September at Salts Tennis Club.

Laura’s Wimbledon call-up (added by john bretherick on June 13, 2008)
Local tennis leader Laura Cowley (17) from Salts Tennis Club has been invited by the Lawn Tennis Association to attend this year’s Wimbledon Championships to assist with Junior and Short-tennis play days.
Last year, Laura and 18 other young people joined the Salts Tennis Club Tennis Leader course at Salt Grammar School. In November, she successfully completed her coaching certification.
Salts Tennis Club Strike Again (added by john bretherick on June 13, 2008)
The start of the 2008 Tennis season saw a dramatic David v Goliath contest between Salts and Ilkley, who are one of Yorkshire’s premier tennis clubs. For the first time ever, Salts beat Ilkley on their home ground. This was a double whammy for Ilkley, as both clubs had been nominated for the coveted ‘Club of the Year’ award in 2007, and Salts Tennis got the nod. Salts were nominated by the YLTA because of their successful Affordable For All junior coaching and summer camp programmes.

John Bretherick, secretary of Salts Tennis Club has scooped the Yorkshire Lawn Tennis Association's award for volunteer of the year 2007, after making the final 4 nominations for the LTA's UK Volunteer of the year award. The award is recognition for his contribution to tennis in the area.
Salts mens team gets promotion to first division Yorkshire league (added by Micky Bonner on May 22, 2008)
After some excellent performances and close play-offs in the 2007 season, Salts men's first Yorkshire League team have gained promotion
to division one of the men's doubles league. This division contains teams from some of Yorkshire's largest tennis clubs including Heaton, Ilkley, Doncaster and Thongsbridge.
Club secretary John Bretherick said:
"Promotion to the first division means our players now face very good opposition, with many coaches and tournament players playing regularly."

Salt Grammar School & Salts Tennis Club Sports Development Continues (added by john bretherick on April 2, 2008)
The long term sports development plan between Salt Grammar and Salts Sports Association continues to build in 2008, with Salt Grammar utilising the tennis club's courts for tennis lessons during PE lessons. The clubs courts are being used 5 days a week during the school term at the following times:

We are holding a team captains / selection committee pre-season meeting in the tennis clubhouse on Saturday 12th April at 2pm. All team captains and anyone wishing to understand the roles of the team captains and who might like to organise a team this year are asked to attend, along with any members who would like to understand the team selection process. After the brief meeting we will be organising a practice session for all teams.

The new floodlights are now operational, and are exceptional! They are state of the art, and have been installed to LTA county standards. To celebrate the installation every member will be given 1 floodlight token FREE (for 30 minutes, normal price £3), to be used during April.
